How hospitals can fill weekday OPD slots with local search

How hospitals can fill weekday OPD slots with local search

When someone types “orthopaedic doctor near me”, they rarely scroll past the first three map results. For hospitals, that small box decides a surprising share of new OPD visits — and it is won by process, not luck.

1. Treat every department as its own listing strategy

A single generic profile cannot rank for cardiology, orthopaedics, gynaecology and paediatrics at once. Create clear department pages on your website, link each consultant’s profile to them, and make sure Google Business Profile categories and services reflect what you actually offer.

2. Make reviews a weekly habit, not a campaign

Recency matters as much as rating. Train front-desk staff to request reviews at discharge and after follow-ups, use a short link or QR code, and reply to every review — politely, without sharing any patient details.

3. Answer the questions patients actually ask

  • Timings for each OPD and consultant
  • Accepted insurance and TPA partners
  • Package prices for common procedures, where possible
  • Parking, accessibility and emergency entry

Publish these on your site and in Q&A sections. Clear answers convert more calls into appointments.

4. Close the loop at the front desk

Ranking only creates enquiries. Track every call and form, route them to a trained telecaller, and call back within minutes. In our audits, slow follow-up is the single biggest leak in hospital marketing.

What to measure

Track calls and direction requests from your profile, appointment bookings by department, cost per patient for paid campaigns, and your review rating over time.
